Milieu Specialist - Adolescent Behavioral Health

Role Overview: Provides a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and staff in a behavioral health inpatient unit. Assists in delivering care to individuals with behavioral, emotional, or mental health diagnoses by ensuring adherence to therapeutic activities, groups, and daily schedules. Supports patients in achieving treatment goals through de-escalation, behavioral management, and safety interventions.

Responsibilities Include

• Supporting safety by de-escalating behaviors, guiding staff in interventions, and monitoring patient activity.
• Participating in patient assessments, documenting interventions, and promoting trauma-informed care.
• Assisting in performance improvement activities, data collection, and process enhancements.
• Facilitating community resource referrals, discharge planning, and patient education.
• Collaborating with staff to maintain a supportive, structured environment and ensuring compliance with legal and safety protocols.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Science or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of behavioral health experience.
• Certifications in CPI and BLS within specified timeframes.
• Fluent in English with basic computer skills, critical thinking, and ability to handle stressful situations.
• Multicultural sensitivity and excellent communication skills.
