GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The employee in this classification, under the supervision of the Laundry Supervisor, sorts laundry for washing; loads and unloads wet and dry linens from machines; operates washers and dryers; removes, sorts, and dries clean linen; cleans linen carts, laundry and washing area; performs related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collects soiled linens from the nursing units and transports to laundry area for processing.
- Weighs soiled linens prior to washing.
- Loads and unloads soiled wet linens; operates washers.
- Sorts linen for ironing, drying and folding.
- Loads and unloads wet linens; operates dryers.
- Transports clean linen carts to nursing units; returns clean linen carts to laundry.
- Cleans soiled linen carts.
- Cleans lint traps on dryers.
- Assists with processing of clean linens as needed.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- This is an entry level position; no prior experience is required.
- Successful completion of the probationary period for the position of Laundry Worker II.
- Be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to operate various types of laundry equipment.
- Ability to read and write simple instructions.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Ability to conduct oneself with tact and courtesy.
Martha T. Berry employees who are applying must meet the following 3 criteria:
1. No more than 5 absences in the last 12 months.
2. No more than 1 written discipline in the last 24 months.
3. Applicants must pass any required job specific testing.
