Senior Staff Accountant

Job Overview: This role is responsible for complex accounting tasks, financial reporting, and supporting audits and compliance efforts. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to process improvement and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing, tax filings, bank reconciliations, forecasting and budgeting.
• Analyze and report on financial data to support business decision-making.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and sub-ledgers.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Maintain fixed asset records, inventory and cost of goods sold.
• Analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses
• Participate in revenue and margin analysis, sales tax compliance and filings
• Assist in cash management and treasury type functions including cash flow analysis
• Support external audits and coordinate with auditors by providing requested documentation.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and help implement changes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with distribution-specific financials, benchmarks and activities
• Familiarity with ERP system implementations or upgrades
• Knowledge of SOX compliance or other regulatory requirements
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
