What are the responsibilities and job description for the Literacy Specialist/Interventionist position at Manchester Essex Regional School District?
Support teachers in administering universal screening and progress monitoring assessments.
Interpretate reading assessment data to drive instruction and monitor progress.
Collaboratively analyze data to make instructional decisions addressing student needs and identify/implement appropriate supports to bring student skills to grade level.
Provide Tier 2 & 3 intervention in grades K-6
Co-facilitate data meetings.
Promote equity for all students.
Prepare and provide explicit, scientifically based instruction to individual students and small groups utilizing a Multi-Tiered System of Support.
Collaborate with teachers, principals, and Director of Curriculum in determining tiered resources.
Communicate effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis regarding student progress.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to align instructional interventions to classroom practice.
Monitor and maintain accurate records on student achievement, articulating progress and success.
Assist in the scheduling and assignment of students for tiered intervention.
Implement targeted interventions and monitor progress towards benchmark goals.
Provide modeling, coaching, and consultation in the implementation of best instructional practices in literacy.
Provide on-site professional development for literacy and related assessments.
Collaborate with Special Education personnel to enhance inclusionary practices.
Participate in literacy transition dialogues.
Collaborate with the Building Principals, and the Director of Curriculum on the planning and implementation of literacy initiatives.
Promote and maintain positive student-teacher-parent relationship.
Demonstrate strong commitment to help all students succeed.
Maintain professional work habits.
Serve on curriculum leadership teams and provide leadership to support literacy initiatives.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Building Principals and Director of Curriculum.
