Provide direct Literacy Intervention that is aligned to the science of reading2. Provide support and assistance to classroom teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies3.
Progress monitors students growth towards goals and supports teachers in collecting and analyzing data to determine instruction needs4.Assist the Principal with curriculum and instructional initiatives that improve instruction5.Participate in data team meetings and student assistance teams6.Conduct training for teachers in consultation with administration7.Conduct training for parents as determined by the PrincipalIDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate should: Be an energetic, motivated individual to work collaboratively with the grade level team members.Have a strong background in the science of literacy, be an expert in effective literacy intervention and be familiar with responsive instructional strategiesBe a passionate and enthusiastic educator who can motivate students to discover their creative potential.QUALIFICATIONSCertified K-5 Literacy Specialist and/or Special Education Teacher with training in Orton-Gillingham (OG)At least 5 years of successful teaching experienceStrong knowledge of assessment and using results to improve instructionStrong background in effective instructional techniquesStrong background and knowledge in the design and implementation of standards-based instruction using core standardsKnowledge of adult learners and strategies for coaching classroom teachersKnowledge of Fundations, Heggerty, and the Science of ReadingExperience leading the change processAbility to collect, organize, analyze, and publish and report information to staff, parents, and the communityStrong interpersonal skillsSALARY & BENEFITSPer agreement between the Georgetown School Committee and Georgetown Education Association.Eligible for health insuranceContractual sick days and personal days
