Role Description
Magruder Hospital is hiring a Director of Laboratory Services to oversee the technical, operational, and strategic direction of our clinical laboratory. This leader ensures high‑quality testing, regulatory compliance, and a culture grounded in Integrity, Ownership, Compassion, and Respect.
Experienced Medical Technologists or Medical Lab Scientists (MT/MLS, ASCP) with proven leadership skills are encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do
- Lead day‑to‑day hospital laboratory operations, including staffing, workflow, and performance management.
- Manage the Quality Management & Quality Control programs, ensuring accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee and optimize the Laboratory Information System (LIS); partner with IT and billing to ensure accuracy and charge integrity.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, competency assessments, and staff training programs.
- Recommend new technology, analyzers, instrumentation, and testing methodologies.
- Prepare and oversee the annual budget, resource planning, and supply inventory.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, HIPAA, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support a high-performing team through recruitment, coaching, evaluations, and professional development.
- Foster collaboration with physicians, nursing, and hospital leadership to optimize patient care and service quality.
- Stay informed on laboratory best practices through continuing education and professional organizations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Required)
- 5 years as a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Scientist (MT/MLS) (Required)
- ASCP certification (MT/ASCP or MLS/ASCP) (Required)
- Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills (Required)
- Experience working with diverse teams and clinical stakeholders (Required)
Preferred
- Master’s degree
- 3–5 years of laboratory leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience with new lab technology, software, and instrumentation
