Sr Project Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven professional to manage traditional project delivery from initiation through closure across a portfolio of IT, technology, infrastructure, or enterprise business initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring assigned projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget by developing and maintaining comprehensive project plans, schedules, milestones, RAID logs, status reports, resource plans, and budget tracking documentation. The ideal candidate will coordinate cross-functional teams — including business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors — to drive execution and ensure project outcomes align with business requirements. Operating in a collaborative, structured, and delivery-focused environment, this individual will serve as the central point of accountability for project governance, stakeholder communications, issue escalation, change control, and final project documentation. This is a full-time, hybrid or remote-friendly engagement with standard business hours, Monday through Friday, and the potential for conversion to a permanent opportunity based on business need and performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage full project lifecycle from initiation through closure, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, RAID logs, resource plans, and budget tracking documentation

• Prepare and distribute stakeholder status reports, executive-level updates, and project communications

• Facilitate project meetings, workshops, and working sessions with business, technical, vendor, and leadership stakeholders

• Track action items, follow up on assigned tasks, and ensure team members understand priorities and deadlines

• Identify, document, and manage risks, issues, decisions, and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle

• Coordinate cross-functional teams across business, IT, operations, and vendor organizations to drive execution

• Manage vendor deliverables, procurement dependencies, and project governance processes

• Implement and enforce change control processes to manage scope changes and impacts

• Escalate risks, blockers, and key decisions to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner

• Review budget and procurement impacts and maintain accurate financial tracking throughout the project

• Deliver complete and organized final project documentation at project closure

Skills

• Strong traditional project management expertise including scope, schedule, budget, risk, issue, dependency, and change control management

• Proficiency with project management tools including Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint

• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and facilitate meetings with diverse stakeholder groups

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing executive-level status updates

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously

• Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to drive clarity in ambiguous situations

• Ability to influence without direct authority and promote accountability across teams

• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience navigating matrixed, regulated, or vendor-heavy environments

• Adaptability and composure under pressure with a calm, professional approach to issue resolution

• Experience managing vendor deliverables, procurement processes, and project governance frameworks

Experience

• 5 or more years of project management experience required

• Demonstrated experience leading medium to large cross-functional projects in IT, technology, infrastructure, cybersecurity, operations, utility, or enterprise business environments

• Proven track record managing project schedules, budgets, and multiple concurrent workstreams

• Experience operating in regulated, matrixed, or vendor-heavy organizational environments preferred

• Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies is a plus

• Utility, IT, or OT project experience is advantageous

Qualifications

• PMP certification is strongly preferred

• CAPM certification is a plus

• Agile or Scrum certification or formal training is a nice-to-have
