Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager III to support a large-scale 400MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project located at the Sagamore Wind Farm in Rogers, New Mexico.

This role is ideal for a construction leader with deep experience in renewable energy, utility-scale solar, or battery storage projects who thrives in a fast-paced field environment. The Construction Manager will oversee day-to-day construction activities, ensure contractor performance meets safety and quality standards, and collaborate closely with project leadership, inspectors, and EPC contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a highly visible role offering hands-on involvement in major renewable energy infrastructure development with long-term project opportunities ahead.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily onsite construction activities for utility-scale BESS installation

• Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with safety standards, project specifications, schedules, and quality requirements

• Participate in project meetings and support field-level decision making

• Conduct inspections and reporting related to construction progress, equipment deliveries, and installation activities

• Review drawings, schedules, and construction documentation to verify contractor accuracy and workmanship

• Coordinate with project leadership, safety teams, inspectors, administrators, and EPC contractors

• Prepare weekly reports and present project updates to stakeholders

• Provide technical direction and recommendations regarding construction methods and field execution

• Support conflict resolution, issue management, and schedule coordination onsite

• Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example in all field operations

Required Qualifications

• 10–15 years of construction management experience within utility, renewable energy, industrial, mechanical, or civil construction environments

• Strong background in utility-scale solar, BESS, or related renewable energy infrastructure projects

• Experience working with:

  • Racking systems

  • Inverters

  • Multiple equipment manufacturers and system components

• Demonstrated ability to lead construction teams and manage contractor performance

• Strong understanding of construction drawings, schedules, inspections, and field verification processes

• Proven safety leadership experience

• Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced field environment

Preferred Skills & Tools

Experience with:

• Microsoft Office Suite

• SharePoint

• PowerPoint

• ArcGIS

• Procore

Strong report writing and presentation skills are highly preferred.

Work Environment

• Highly collaborative team environment

• Approximately 50 hours per week

• Occasional overtime required

• Flexible start/end times between 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM

• Full-time onsite role

The project team includes approximately:

• 3 onsite construction personnel

• 100 EPC contractors

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction leader with expert-level knowledge of renewable energy construction systems and a strong safety-first mindset. This individual should be confident managing contractors onsite, resolving field issues, interpreting technical drawings, and driving quality execution in a dynamic project environment.

Candidates with stable work history and long-term project experience are strongly preferred.
