Description
Essential Duties:
- Perform full disassembly of used or damaged emergency vehicles, including removal of interior/exterior components, electrical systems, cabinetry, and mounts.
- Document and label reusable parts; properly dispose of non-usable materials in accordance with company procedures.
- Prep bare modules for remounting, including sanding, grinding, or minor welding as needed.
- Assemble and install both interior and exterior components such as cabinetry, flooring, lighting, wall panels, compartment dividers, doors, windows, and trim.
- Fit and secure emergency equipment (e.g., stretcher mounts, oxygen systems) and communication systems.
- Run, terminate, and test electrical wiring for lighting, outlets, and other installed systems.
- Modify parts and components for proper fit, finish, and functionality.
- Interpret and follow blueprints, build specifications, and work orders.
- Perform quality checks to ensure compliance with functional and safety standards.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for all phases of production.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Collaborate with team members across departments to resolve build or process issues efficiently.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical assembly with a strong understanding of assembly techniques and processes
- Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to apply mechanical principles to hands-on tasks
- Skilled and safe use of power tools, hand tools, and machinery, including drills, taps, electric drills, and impact tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and build specifications
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and high-quality assembly
- Effective problem-solving skills to identify and resolve assembly issues
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments and functions
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Experience in automotive assembly and fabrication
- Familiarity with emergency vehicle specifications and build requirements
- Bend, squat, climb, grasp, twist, reach, lift or otherwise move frequently for extended periods.
- Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs frequently, or more occasionally.
- Walk, stand or otherwise move about continuously.
- Typically sits, grasp items and performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer.
- Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards including chemicals which may require respiratory protection.
