Mackie Myers is partnering with a high growth, design led consumer brand in the fashion and lifestyle space to hire an Assistant Controller. This is a key leadership hire within a scaling finance team, reporting directly to the Controller and taking broad ownership across the accounting function.
This role will suit someone who enjoys operating in a hands on environment while also acting as a true number two within finance. The successful individual will take ownership of core accounting operations, lead and develop a small team, and play a major role in strengthening processes, controls, and infrastructure as the business continues to grow.
The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing day to day accounting operations while taking a leading role in close, reporting, controls, and process improvement. This position offers the opportunity to step into a broader leadership seat and help build a scalable accounting function.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ownership of the month end and year end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and high quality output
- Oversight of general ledger activity, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Supporting the Controller with the integrity of the balance sheet, internal controls, and overall accounting compliance
- Managing, mentoring, and developing a small accounting team across day to day workflows and longer term progression
- Full oversight of AR and AP, ensuring strong process discipline and effective cash flow support across the business
- Leading process improvements and systems enhancements, particularly within NetSuite, to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Partnering cross functionally with operations and leadership teams to support decision making and business growth
- Acting as a key finance partner within the business, with increasing ownership and visibility across the wider function
- Supporting audits, year end requirements, and the ongoing development of accounting policies and procedures
What We’re Looking For
- 6–10 years of accounting experience, ideally within consumer goods, retail, apparel, or a related product based environment
- Strong technical accounting foundation with experience owning close, reporting, and core accounting operations
- NetSuite experience is essential
- Previous experience managing or mentoring junior staff and leading workstreams within an accounting team
- A proactive, solutions focused mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fast paced, evolving environment
- Comfortable balancing hands on execution with leadership, process improvement, and greater functional ownership
- The credibility and maturity to operate as a true second in command to the Controller
Salary : $135,000 - $165,000
