Role Overview
Our engineering department is looking for a precise and enthusiastic Junior Controls Electrical Designer to contribute to our team. You will play a key role in developing electrical control solutions for various industrial automation initiatives, collaborating with senior staff to draft schematics, choose necessary hardware, and oversee the assembly and implementation of control panels.
Core Duties
- Help draft electrical control systems, encompassing wiring diagrams, panel configurations, and schematics.
- Utilize design software like EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical to generate precise technical documentation.
- Identify and choose appropriate electrical hardware, including power supplies, relays, sensors, HMIs, and PLCs.
- Contribute to the development and ongoing management of Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Work alongside manufacturing, software, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure project success.
- Help maintain high quality by ensuring all designs meet necessary regulatory benchmarks like NFPA 70, UL 508A, and IEC.
- Engage in design evaluations to help improve overall system performance through iterative feedback.
- Assist during the testing, assembly, and troubleshooting stages to ensure functional control panels.
Required Background
- Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable discipline (or an Associate’s degree paired with relevant work history).
- Experience working with electrical design platforms like SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Foundational knowledge regarding industrial control components and systems.
- Strong analytical capabilities and a meticulous approach to detail.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills.
- A proactive attitude toward professional development within a team-oriented engineering setting.

- Previous co-op or internship involvement within the automation or controls sector.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and HMI/PLC platforms.
- Understanding of regulatory and safety requirements for designing control panels.
