About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to lead our caster operations. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, quality, and efficiency of the casting process, utilizing your expertise in production and quality control.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead safety initiatives and enforce safety protocols within the caster area to cultivate a secure working environment.
- Maintain detailed records of caster production data, analyzing trends to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate closely with other departments within the Melt Shop to synchronize caster activities and ensure seamless workflow.
- Drive continuous improvement by actively contributing to the achievement of quality and key performance indicator (KPI) targets.
- Provide hands-on support in critical tasks such as burning non-free opening ladles and assisting with start-up procedures, heat sequencing, and grade changes.
- Conduct thorough billet inspections and manage heat separations to uphold stringent quality standards.
Required Skills
- Fundamental computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to endure prolonged periods of standing, climbing stairs/ladders, working at heights, and exposure to extreme heat.
- Adherence to required personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols for the Melt Shop environment.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in a supervisory role.
- High School Diploma or GED.
