This fast-growing CPG business is seeking an experienced finance professional to step in as Assistant Controller. You will oversee AR, revenue, and general accounting operations while providing strategic insight into the business’s financial performance. This is a hands-on role that combines leadership, process ownership, and commercial acumen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end and quarter-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial statements, internal management reports, and audit support.
- Strengthen internal controls, standardize processes, and drive ERP or system enhancements.
- Monitor cash flow, forecasting, and reserves to support business decisions.
- Mentor and guide junior finance team members, promoting consistency, accuracy, and operational excellence.
- Own AR for high-volume retail and wholesale accounts, including national and regional chains.
- Monitor customer portals (e.g., RetailLink, Amazon Vendor Central) and manage disputes, deductions, and chargebacks.
- Oversee invoicing workflows, including EDI processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Analyse AR aging, customer payment patterns, and DSO, developing strategies to optimise cash flow.
- Maintain alignment between AR subledger and general ledger, ensuring accurate cutoffs and reconciliations.
- Partner with commercial teams to anticipate retailer program impacts on revenue and cash collections.
What We're Looking For:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA-track preferred.
- 5 years in accounting or finance, with 3 years managing AR or revenue accounting in a CPG, retail, or wholesale environment.
- Experience with major retailers and understanding of trade spend, chargebacks, deductions, and compliance.
- Strong ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Track record of improving KPIs such as DSO, dispute resolution, or cash flow.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and support business growth.
- Experience in high-volume, fast-moving environments where process efficiency and accuracy are critical.
