Macdonald & Company is partnered with an active affordable housing developer expanding its development team to support a growing California pipeline.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can take full ownership of projects from predevelopment through completion: financing, entitlements, construction, and handoff to asset management.
The Role
This individual will manage 2-3 projects at a time across the full development lifecycle, including:
- Developing project financing plans, including LIHTC, soft debt, project-based vouchers, and other layered capital sources
- Navigating entitlements and coordinating with municipalities, agencies, and housing authorities
- Running due diligence and reviewing loan documents, partnership agreements, and regulatory compliance
- Managing the construction process in coordination with an in-house general contractor
- Coordinating with housing authorities and transitioning completed projects to asset management
- Maintaining project schedules, budgets, and timely reporting to leadership
Platform Overview
- Ground-up affordable housing developments across California, with active concentration in Riverside County, Orange County, and Santa Barbara
- Projects typically range from 80 to 200 units, often developed in multiple phases
- In-house general contractor, third-party property management, and a lean development team with direct exposure to ownership
Qualifications
- Direct experience managing affordable housing developments through multiple phases of the lifecycle
- Working knowledge of LIHTC and layered affordable housing financing structures
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
- Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills
- California market experience preferred
