Accounting Manager - Construction

Macdonald & Company are pleased to be partnered with a growing general contractor and real estate development group in Atlanta. The business is seeking an Accounting Manager who will operate across both construction and development, playing a key role in shaping financial processes, supporting project delivery, and strengthening corporate accounting. Responsibilities

• Manage full project accounting from contract award through closeout, including job setup, cost tracking, invoicing, lien waivers, and monthly reporting
• Work closely with project managers to maintain accurate forecasts, cash flow projections, and WIP schedules, ensuring strong financial visibility across active jobs
• Oversee development accounting activities such as preparing debt and equity draw packages, reconciling budgets, processing corporate invoices, and supporting asset management with reporting and cash analysis
• Maintain general ledger accuracy, prepare corporate financial statements, manage audits, and ensure documentation is organized and audit-ready
• Support process improvements, implement better accounting controls, optimize systems, and help refine best practices as the company grows
• Provide wider operational support, including onboarding assistance and compliance-related tasks when needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5 years of construction accounting experience, with strong understanding of job cost structures, billing formats, and contract compliance
• Proficiency with project accounting software and strong Excel capability
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across construction, development, and corporate teams
• High initiative, strong attention to detail, and comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
