Water/Wastewater Lead Engineer

LVI Associates
New Orleans, LA Full Time
POSTED ON 4/13/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/8/2026

A Different Kind of Firm

Unlike rigid, metrics-driven consultancies, our client puts people first - both their employees and the communities they serve. This is a statewide firm with a strong reputation in the water and wastewater sector, regularly competing (and winning) against much larger international firms through technical excellence, client trust, and agility.

The culture is relaxed, trusting, and genuinely collaborative. Engineers are empowered to take real ownership of their projects, make decisions, and lead without micromanagement. Wellbeing and long-term success are valued far more than utilization targets.

Your Role as Project Engineer / Project Manager

As a Project Engineer / Project Manager, you will take ownership of a high-profile, multimillion-pound water or wastewater project, leading it from planning and design through delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll manage both the technical direction and the client relationship, supported by a collaborative team of experienced engineers and specialists.

You'll play a key role in project success while helping strengthen the firm's reputation as a top-tier statewide consultancy capable of delivering complex infrastructure on par with international competitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of a multimillion-pound water or wastewater infrastructure project
  • Lead planning, design, and delivery across multiple project phases
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and risk in close collaboration with internal teams and clients
  • Prepare and oversee technical analyses, design reports, plans, and specifications
  • Coordinate internal engineering staff, subconsultants, and external stakeholders
  • Oversee QA/QC processes to ensure high-quality, compliant deliverables
  • Support permitting and regulatory coordination efforts
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships

Culture & Flexibility

  • People-first, collaborative environment
  • High autonomy and trust in how you manage your work
  • Genuine commitment to sustainable workloads and work-life balance
  • High incentives for bringing in new business

Compensation & Benefits

  • Highly competitive salary aligned with senior responsibility and project ownership
  • 401(k) with 3% employer contribution after one year (no employee contribution required)
  • 100% employer-paid health insurance
  • Annual performance-based bonus up to 20%
  • 100% employer-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance
  • Three weeks (15 days) PTO
  • Ten paid holidays
  • Company-paid continuing education, certifications, and professional development

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related field)
  • Experience delivering water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Prior experience in a project engineering or project management capacity
  • Ability to lead complex projects and take full accountability for outcomes
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with clients
  • A collaborative mindset and interest in long-term growth within a close‑knit team
  • Desire to work at a firm where trust, quality, and people come before metrics
