The Land Surveyor Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all surveying operations in support of land development, utility, and infrastructure projects throughout Louisiana. This leadership role provides technical oversight, manages survey staff and crews, ensures regulatory compliance, and coordinates closely with engineering teams and clients to deliver accurate, high-quality surveying services on schedule and within budget.
- Manage and oversee all land surveying operations, including boundary, topographic, construction staking, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, and as-built surveys
- Provide technical oversight and quality control for survey deliverables, including plats, legal descriptions, and survey calculations
- Supervise, schedule, and support survey crew chiefs, technicians, and field staff
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to plan scope, schedules, and resource needs
- Review project requirements, contracts, and specifications to ensure compliance with Louisiana standards and regulations
- Ensure proper use, calibration, and maintenance of survey equipment and technology
- Develop and enforce field and office procedures, safety standards, and best practices
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and productivity; identify risks and implement solutions
- Train, mentor, and evaluate surveying staff to promote professional development and performance
- Support business development efforts through technical input, project planning, and client communication
- Associate or bachelor's degree in surveying, civil engineering, or a related field required
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive land surveying experience, including supervisory or management responsibility
- Strong working knowledge of land surveying principles, methods, and Louisiana surveying standards
- Proficiency with GPS/GNSS, total stations, data collectors, and conventional survey methods
- Ability to read, prepare, and review construction plans, plats, legal descriptions, and survey documents
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
- Louisiana Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or ability to obtain
- Experience managing surveying services for transportation, municipal, energy, or commercial development projects
- Familiarity with survey and CAD software such as Trimble, Carlson, Leica, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar platforms
