We are partnered with a well-established geotechnical engineering and construction services firm with a strong presence across the Mid-Atlantic. They are looking to bring on a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support and help grow their Laurel, Maryland office.
This is a senior-level position offering a mix of technical leadership, project management, and client-facing responsibility across a diverse range of geotechnical and construction-related projects throughout the region.
You'll play a key role in delivering geotechnical projects while supporting both internal teams and external clients. This position combines hands-on technical work with oversight of project execution and quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as Engineer of Record for special inspections and geotechnical-related scopes on construction projects across the Maryland/DC region
- Providing technical support to construction materials testing and inspection teams
- Conducting site visits, overseeing field activities, and attending project progress meetings
- Preparing and reviewing field reports, engineering reports, and technical correspondence
- Supporting geotechnical investigations, analysis, and design recommendations
- Coordinating across internal teams including geotechnical, CMT, and environmental groups
- Preparing proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and technical specifications
- Maintaining strong client relationships through consistent communication and high-quality service delivery
- Ensuring technical excellence, quality control, and adherence to industry standards across all projects
- Promoting and upholding company safety standards in both office and field environments
- BS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (MS preferred)
- 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, or related field
- Strong experience with special inspections and construction-phase services
- PE license in Maryland (or ability to obtain through reciprocity)
- Proven ability to manage projects, clients, and technical deliverables
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with standard engineering software and tools (e.g., Excel, AutoCAD, reporting platforms)
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
- Comfortable working in both office and field settings, including occasional lifting and site work
- Established pipeline of projects across Maryland and DC
- Senior-level role with real influence on project delivery and client relationships
