An established utility construction services company is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Estimator to support distribution projects across the Kansas City region. This role requires a hands‑on professional with strong experience in Overhead and Underground (UG) Distribution and the ability to manage complex utility projects from bid through closeout.
- Manage all phases of utility construction projects, including estimating, planning, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and closeout.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for Overhead and Underground (UG) Distribution projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes.
- Coordinate with internal teams, field leadership, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to ensure project objectives are met.
- Track project budgets, schedules, and performance, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Maintain project documentation, reporting, and communication with stakeholders.
- Assist with business development efforts, proposal preparation, and supporting regional growth initiatives.
- Ensure all work meets safety requirements, company standards, and applicable regulations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in utility construction with combined Project Management and Estimating responsibilities.
- Strong background in Overhead and Underground (UG) Distribution work.
- Experience with Transmission and/or Substation projects is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, subcontractors, and competing deadlines.
- Solid understanding of project budgeting, cost controls, and scheduling.
- Experience working with utility owners, municipalities, or EPC partners preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent industry experience also considered.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with estimating and project management software, as well as standard office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret utility construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Knowledge of safety standards, permitting processes, and utility construction practices.
- OSHA certifications, PMP certification, or similar credentials are considered a plus.
