What the Role Involves
The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer supports municipal water and wastewater clients in the Sacramento, California area. The role focuses on delivering control systems and SCADA solutions that improve operational efficiency, enable data‑driven decision‑making, and enhance how clients interact with their systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Programming, configuring, testing, and commissioning SCADA systems
- Transforming client operations, processes, and technology by delivering solutions that increase operational efficiency and enable data‑driven decision making
- Supporting control system design, construction projects, and public bid efforts
- Preparing technical reports, including SCADA Master Plans and Preliminary Engineering Reports
- Collaborating with operators, maintenance staff, managers, and engineers
- Participating in client workshops and multidisciplinary project teams
- Assisting the Business Development team with proposals and identifying lateral and follow‑on work
- Mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with subject matter experts
- Travelling to client sites up to 50%, depending on project needs

Required qualifications and experience include:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- 5 years of experience in the following areas:
- Programming, configuration, and commissioning of SCADA systems
- PLCs, HMIs, OITs, and related SCADA software
- Instrumentation and control system design, including control system network design
- Training clients on newly installed control systems
- SCADA / OT Master Planning
- Construction phase services, including bidding services, submittal reviews, responding to RFIs, and factory and field test witnessing
- Experience in the municipal water and wastewater industry
- Experience working in a consulting environment
- Professional Engineer licence or the ability to obtain one
- Willingness to travel approximately 50%, depending on project needs
Salary : $140,000 - $170,000
