Estimator (Heavy Civil)

Salary: $130,000 - $160,000 DOE

A well‑established heavy civil contractor in the Phoenix market is seeking an experienced Estimator to support a strong and growing backlog of infrastructure work across Arizona. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who understands how jobs are won, built, and delivered in real‑world civil construction.

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids for a variety of heavy civil projects. You'll work closely with operations, field leadership, and subcontractors to ensure estimates align with construction means, methods, and local market conditions.

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for heavy civil projects
• Analyze plans, specifications, addenda, and bid requirements
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
• Support value engineering and constructability reviews
• Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to validate production assumptions
• Participate in bid strategy, pricing reviews, and proposal development
• Maintain organized bid documentation and historical cost data
  
  

• 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction
• Background estimating some combination of:
  • Transportation / roadway / DOT work
  • Earthwork & excavation
  • Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
  • Concrete structures and civil infrastructure
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing and production rates
• Experience with estimating software and digital takeoff tools
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines concurrently
• Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and communication skills
