What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP Sales & Business Development — Luxury Tableware & Hospitality, North America position at Luxury Executive?
VP Sales & Business Development — North America New York · Hybrid · Founding commercial hire
Luxury Executive is exclusively engaged on this search. Our client is a French heritage porcelain and arts-de-la-table maison, part of an international group, whose pieces sit on the tables of Michelin-starred restaurants, grand hotels and private residences across the world.
North America is the maison's most significant growth opportunity and, until now, its least built. There is a New York showroom, a hospitality business that already commands real respect among chefs and designers, a small number of retail partners, and an agent relationship that has carried the territory. What there is not — yet — is an owner.
This is that appointment. It is a founding commercial hire, not a role inherited from someone else.
The remit
- Own the North American P&L: revenue, channel mix, pricing discipline and growth.
- Build the hospitality business — hotel groups, restaurant groups, chefs, F&B consultants, hospitality design firms and the procurement teams behind them. This is where the maison is strongest and where the biggest ceiling sits.
- Develop the retail and specialist wholesale network: luxury department stores, tabletop specialists, interior and gift retailers, bridal and registry channels.
- Manage, extend and where necessary restructure the agent and representative network across the territory.
- Represent the maison to designers and specifiers — the people who write your product into a project two years before it ships.
- Build the commercial infrastructure: forecasting, pipeline discipline, showroom activity, trade show presence, sampling and specification support.
- Work directly with European leadership. You will have unusual proximity to decision-makers and unusual latitude in how you build.
What we are looking for
- A commercial leader from luxury tabletop, porcelain, crystal, silver, or an adjacent luxury home category — someone who understands why a plate can cost what it costs, and can hold that conversation with a chef, a buyer and a designer without flinching.
- Demonstrable success selling through the hospitality channel in North America: hotel and restaurant groups, purchasing agents, F&B consultancies, design firms.
- Wholesale and specialist retail experience — building accounts, not just servicing them.
- Track record of managing agents, reps or distributors, and of taking a territory from underbuilt to structured.
- Comfort operating as a team of one at the start, with the ambition and the plan to change that.
- Based in, or relocating to, the New York metropolitan area. Willing to travel across the territory and to Europe.
What this is not. This is not a role for a pure e-commerce or direct-to-consumer operator, and it is not a role for someone who wants an established book handed to them.
Compensation. $140,000–$200,000 base depending on experience, plus commission. Exceptional candidates operating at a broader scope will be considered above this range.
Process. Our client is not accepting direct applications. All approaches are handled in confidence by Luxury Executive. Apply here or write to info@luxuryexecutive.com.
