What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Manager, FORGE, HEART, Ready4Life Initiatives position at Lutheran Social Services National Capital Area?
Coming October 2025 (Pending Funding): Program Manager – FORGE, HEART & Ready4Life
Washington, DC | Hybrid / Onsite
The Story
In DC, fathers, young parents, and at-risk youth are striving to build healthy families, stable lives, and hopeful futures. But too often, they face systems that are fragmented, overwhelming, or hard to navigate.
That’s where you come in.
As Program Manager, you will be the backbone of three life-changing initiatives: FORGE (Fatherhood), HEART (Healthy Relationships), and Ready4Life (Life Skills Development). Together, these programs strengthen parenting, nurture healthy relationships, and open doors to economic opportunity.
You’ll lead with both strategy and heart—guiding staff, shaping partnerships, and ensuring that every workshop, case plan, and family connection is delivered with excellence. You won’t just manage a program—you’ll build a movement of support around fathers, youth, and families, turning funding into futures and challenges into opportunities.
What You’ll Do
Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring programs meet federal and funder standards.
Supervise and develop staff, fostering a team culture rooted in reflection, accountability, and growth.
Build strong partnerships with DC agencies, workforce centers, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
Ensure evidence-based curricula—like 24/7 Dad®—are delivered with fidelity and impact.
Manage budgets, grants, and reporting to ensure compliance and sustainability.
Use data and participant feedback to drive continuous quality improvement.
Elevate program visibility by representing initiatives in community forums and regional collaborations.
What You Bring
Required: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Social Work, Public Health, Human Services, or Nonprofit Management.
At least 5 years of program management, including 2 years supervising staff.
Proven experience in fatherhood, youth development, or healthy relationship programs.
Strong grant management, budgeting, and compliance skills.
Excellent communication and partnership-building abilities.
Knowledge of DC’s community service landscape.
(Preferred) Experience managing federally funded programs and bilingual fluency.
Why It Matters
This role isn’t just about managing reports or budgets. It’s about building programs that change the trajectory of lives. A father who learns to connect more deeply with his child. A young parent who discovers new confidence in building a future. A teenager who gains life skills that carry them into adulthood.
As Program Manager, you will ensure these stories aren’t exceptions—they become the norm.
Expected start date: October 2025 (pending funding award).
We are pre-recruiting now—apply early to be among the first considered when the program launches.
