What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Payroll Tax Analyst position at Lumen Resources?
We’re looking for a Sr. Payroll Tax & Technology Analyst for a global organization with U.S. and Canadian operations.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the go-to payroll technical expert, validating end-to-end payroll calculations, system outputs, and vendor-generated results to confirm everything aligns with regulations, internal policies, and expected outcomes
- Run independent manual calculations on payroll and payroll taxes to spot discrepancies, then perform root cause analysis to determine whether issues stem from inputs, configuration, integrations, or vendor processing
- Partner with internal HRIS and the payroll vendor (UKG) to ensure system configurations consistently produce accurate, compliant results — including investigating configuration issues and driving fixes to resolution
- Own payroll tax validation across federal, state, local, and Canadian jurisdictions, covering tax calculation reviews, reconciliations, year-end reporting outputs (W-2, W-2C, T-4), and the setup of new tax jurisdictions alongside HRIS and the Senior Manager
- Lead payroll system testing efforts by building test scenarios, executing UAT, and validating system changes before they go live
What We’re Looking For
- 4 - 8 years of experience processing Payroll Tax
- Experience with multi state tax experience and processing Canada Tax reports
- Experience managing payroll systems
