Financial Counselor

Role Summary

Responsible for identifying payer sources for uninsured and underinsured patients, determining patient financial responsibility, and collecting required payments such as co-pays, deductibles, and deposits prior to scheduled services. Acts as a liaison among patients, physicians, the hospital, and payers, ensuring clear communication and accurate billing-related information.

Key Duties

• Assess coverage and identify payer options for uninsured/underinsured patients.
• Determine and communicate patient financial responsibility.
• Collect applicable co-pays, deductibles, and deposits before services.
• Coordinate with patients, physicians, facility staff, and payers to support billing accuracy.
• Explain available financial assistance options.
• Assist with insurance enrollment and related support.
