How You Show Up for Our Residents
Guide families and maximize care as a Medicare Accounts Receivable Specialist. You will take the lead in managing all aspects of Medicare billing, along with billing for Independent Living (IL) services and monthly maintenance fees. You will manage the complete revenue cycle process, including payment posting, rebilling, and appeals follow-up to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement. You will be a trusted resource and advisor to residents and responsible parties, providing clear guidance on Medicare coverage, eligibility, and claims.
Your responsibilities will include:
Medicare & Insurance Billing Expertise
- Oversees full-cycle Medicare Part A and Part B billing, ensuring timely claim submission and accurate reimbursement.
- Coordinates and leads Triple Check meetings to verify all required documentation is present prior to billing; follows up on outstanding claims and documentation issues.
- Submits secondary insurance claims for co-insurance balances and prepares necessary correspondence, including denial of coverage, benefit exhaustion notices, and administrative reviews.
- Serves as a trusted resource to residents, families, and responsible parties regarding Medicare and long-term care insurance coverage, claims processes, and benefits.
Accounts Receivable & Financial Processing
- Collaborates with AR/Medicaid billing staff to execute month-end financial processes, including auto-withdrawal setups, EMR entries, and payment postings.
- Manages resident billing for Independent Living services and monthly maintenance fees.
- Inputs resident payments, ancillary charges, and financial data into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and accounting systems with precision.
Insurance Administration & Documentation
- Works directly with insurance representatives, nursing teams, and physician offices to complete and process medical forms, benefit verifications, and long-term care insurance claims.
- Updates and maintains resident insurance records of residents for billing.
- Manages setup of all new payers, products, and services in the EMR; ensures accurate resident admission entries and reimbursement tracking.
- Retrieves and verifies therapy plans of care, ensuring proper signatures and compliance, and uploads documents into the EMR.
Resident Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Acts as a liaison between residents, their families, and internal departments, ensuring clarity on billing, coverage, and reimbursement across all payer types.
- Supports clinical teams by maintaining physician contact lists, EMR category updates, and insurance for records for residents.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table
- Educational Foundation: A high school diploma or GED is required – additional training or certifications in healthcare billing are a plus.
- Proven Expertise: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on Medicare Parts A and B billing experience in a skilled nursing facility, with a deep understanding of long-term care reimbursement processes. Experience with third-party payers is required.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable navigating various computer systems to streamline billing operations and documentation.
