How You Show Up for Our Residents
Are you detail-oriented and take pride in keeping things fresh and organized? As a Laundry Aide, you’ll play a vital role in creating a clean, comfortable environment for both our team and the elders we serve. You’ll be responsible for collecting, sorting, washing, drying, and folding linens, and making sure every department, care area, and elder has the clean laundry they need. From crisp sheets to personal clothing, you help keep our community feeling like home.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare Ahead: Gather all necessary equipment and supplies before reporting to your assigned work area.
- Operate Smartly: Use laundry equipment correctly and promptly report any malfunctions to your supervisor.
- Protect Diligently: Follow standard infection control procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- Work Safely: Adhere to all established safety rules and immediately report any hazards or concerns to your supervisor.
- Restock Responsibly: Return all unused supplies to their proper storage area at the end of each shift.
- Stay Organized: Keep carts, closets, and all laundry equipment clean, neat, and orderly at all times.
- Deliver Cleanly: Ensure all clean linen is covered during transport and delivered to the correct locations on time.
- Maintain Order: Regularly clean the laundry and folding areas to ensure a tidy, efficient workspace.
- Clean Correctly: Follow proper procedures, using the right chemicals and equipment for each cleaning task.
- Maintain Equipment: Perform basic preventive maintenance and keep laundry machines in good working condition.
- Log Efficiently: Use the WorxHub software for accurate billing, scheduling, and quality tracking.
- Transport Safely: Collect soiled linen and handle it according to infection control guidelines, including proper PPE use.
- Sort Thoroughly: Separate soiled linen by fabric type and color to prevent cross-contamination and damage.
- Weigh Accurately: Measure each load to ensure washers are not overloaded, enabling optimal performance.
- Wash Precisely: Load washers and select the correct wash cycle and chemical formula based on load classification.
- Monitor Closely: Check that chemicals are properly injected into machines and replace containers when needed.
- Dry Efficiently: Transfer washed loads to dryers promptly upon cycle completion.
- Fold Neatly: Fold clean linen and stock delivery carts with the appropriate types and quantities.
- Deliver Promptly: Distribute clean linens and residents’ personal laundry to the appropriate locations at scheduled times.
- Practice Hygiene: Wash hands before and after handling both soiled and clean laundry.
- Inspect Carefully: Check linens and personal clothing for quality issues such as stains, tears, or missing buttons.
- Remove Promptly: Take damaged or unusable linens out of circulation as necessary.
- Record Accurately: Document load types, weight, and classifications on daily washer logs.
- Monitor Inventory: Keep an eye on laundry chemical levels and alert the supervisor when supplies run low.
- Clean Regularly: Perform scheduled cleaning of the Nursing Administration building as assigned.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table
- Valid PA Driver’s License
- Capable and Ready: Able to successfully perform all key responsibilities of the role with reliability and care.
- Committed to Safety: Strictly follows universal precautions and uses personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe environment, especially when there is potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
