About the Opportunity
Our client, a nationally recognized public accounting and advisory firm, is seeking a Senior Associate to join its growing State & Local Tax (SALT) practice. Responsibilities
- Prepare and review state and local tax compliance engagements.
- Research and analyze complex SALT issues, including:
- State income and franchise tax
- Sales and use tax
- Nexus determinations
- Apportionment and allocation
- Pass-through entity taxation
- Multistate tax planning
- Assist clients with state tax audits, notices, and controversy matters.
- Perform nexus studies and multistate exposure reviews.
- Evaluate state tax implications related to mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and business expansions.
- Identify tax savings opportunities, credits, incentives, and refund claims.
- Prepare technical memoranda and client deliverables.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting multistate businesses.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and trusted advisory services.
- Manage multiple engagements and deadlines while collaborating with cross-functional tax and advisory teams.
- Review the work of junior staff, provide mentorship, and support the continued growth of the SALT practice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA license or CPA eligibility.
- 2 years of public accounting experience with exposure to State & Local Tax.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of state tax laws, regulations, and multistate compliance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and tax research software.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with SALT consulting in a public accounting or consulting environment.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Nexus studies
- Sales and use tax reviews
- State income and franchise tax consulting
- Due diligence engagements
- State tax controversy matters
- Experience serving multi-state businesses across a variety of industries
Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
