Duties
- Design, deploy, and manage Linux (including distributions like Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat) and UNIX operating systems to support enterprise applications and services.
- Develop and implement system architecture solutions aligned with organizational needs, including system hardening and security best practices.
- Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Shell Scripting to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain and optimize IT infrastructure components including load balancing, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and network configurations to ensure high availability and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate systems with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure while ensuring compliance with cloud security standards.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, threat intelligence analysis, and vulnerability management to safeguard systems against emerging threats.
- Support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins or Git for seamless software delivery.
- Manage virtualization environments utilizing VMware ESXi or similar platforms; implement container orchestration with Kubernetes for microservices deployment.
- Oversee system monitoring using tools such as Nagios or Zabbix; troubleshoot issues related to system performance or network connectivity promptly.
- Ensure system documentation adheres to SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) standards and best practices for system design and architecture.
- Maintain Linux Platforms (RedHat and Oracle Linux)
- Manage Linux patching, upgrade, Migration, Virtualization and Tier 3 support
- Monitor, maintain, configure and upgrading MIS,MOS and NES systems, Development in Datacenters and FAB/CUB
- Project management, planning, DR, new system designs and implementation
Experience
- Proven experience in systems engineering with a focus on Linux/Unix operating systems in enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems concepts including system administration, system hardening, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on expertise with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, PowerShell (for Windows), or Ruby on Rails for automation tasks.
- Familiarity with service-oriented architecture (SOA), RESTful APIs, web services (SOAP), and microservices architecture.
- Experience working within Agile methodologies; familiarity with DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools.
- Knowledge of computer networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing solutions, and network security protocols.
- Proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle Database or Microsoft SQL Server; experience with NoSQL databases is a plus.
- Understanding of cloud security principles in AWS or Azure environments; experience with virtualization technologies like VMware ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V is desirable.
- Ability to perform vulnerability assessments and implement information security measures to protect organizational assets.
- Educational background in computer science or related fields; certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or AWS certifications are advantageous. - High Hands-on experience on Linux Distribution Platforms (RedHat, Oracle linux, CentOS, Rocky etc)
- High Plus : Hands-on Kubernetes, Docker experience
- Proven experience on Virtualization (VMware VCF preferred)
- Storage solution experiences on NetApp, EMC products with Volume Management (LUN management, Provisioning iSCSI and FC lun, Disk pool and staging) CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, FC and NDMP management
- Proven experience & ability architect on Linux open source applications’ deployment
- General troubleshooting of Linux system log analysis
- Heavy hands on Bash, Korn Shell, Perl, python script experience
- College Degree preferred or equivalent experience & certification
- Required Degree: Associate Degree, or higher
- Required Experience: 3 years as Linux Systems Engineer
