Position Summary

Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a creative, compassionate, and dedicated Part-Time Teacher to provide high-quality instruction and academic support for students who are temporarily assigned outside of the traditional classroom. This position is 16 hours per week, Monday through Thursday.

The classroom is an extension of the learning environment where students remain engaged academically while receiving the structure and support needed to successfully transition back into their regular classrooms. This space may also serve as a temporary reset location for students who need a brief break from the classroom environment to regulate, refocus, and return ready to learn.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English Language Arts, along with the ability to support learning across multiple content areas. They will possess a calm, consistent presence, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the creativity to engage students through innovative instructional practices in a nontraditional classroom setting.

Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Development and Instruction

Develop and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction aligned with state standards and individual student needs.

Provide interdisciplinary academic support by assisting students with assignments from all core content areas.

Utilize innovative teaching strategies and instructional technology to promote engagement, critical thinking, and academic growth.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.

Student Support and Classroom Environment

Establish a structured, respectful, and supportive learning environment that promotes accountability, reflection, and academic success.

Serve as a calm, positive, and consistent adult presence for students experiencing academic or behavioral challenges.

Help students develop self-regulation, organization, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.

Foster positive relationships while maintaining high expectations for student behavior and academic engagement.

Support students in successfully transitioning back to their regular classroom setting.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring

Monitor student progress, assignment completion, and academic participation.

Provide constructive feedback that encourages growth and supports student achievement.

Maintain accurate records related to attendance, behavior, academic progress, and interventions.

Collaboration and Communication

Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to ensure instructional continuity and student success.

Communicate with parents and guardians, when appropriate, regarding student progress, academic performance, and strategies for continued success.

Participate in school meetings, professional learning communities, and collaborative planning opportunities.

Professional Responsibilities

Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in English Language Arts instruction, classroom management, restorative practices, and student engagement.

Support the school's mission, vision, and positive school culture through active participation in school initiatives and events.

Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.

Valid teaching certification in English Language Arts or a related content area preferred.

Strong background in English Language Arts instruction.

Ability to provide academic support across multiple content areas.

Experience working with students demonstrating diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs preferred.

Strong understanding of adolescent development and effective instructional practices.

Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.

Demonstrated ability to remain calm, patient, and solution-focused in challenging situations.

Required clearances and background checks in accordance with state and school requirements.
