Position Overview
Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered High School Softball Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach to join our athletic program. This position will work closely with the Head Coach to support all aspects of the softball program, with a particular emphasis on pitching development, athlete growth, and fostering a positive team culture. The ideal candidate is committed to helping student-athletes excel both on the field and in the classroom while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal responsibility.
Essential ResponsibilitiesCoaching & Practice Development
Assist the Head Coach in planning and implementing effective practices that focus on skill development, conditioning, teamwork, and game strategy.
Provide specialized instruction and training for pitchers, including mechanics, pitch development, game preparation, and mental performance.
Deliver individual and small-group coaching to enhance player performance and confidence.
Game-Day Responsibilities
Support the Head Coach with game preparation, strategy implementation, player substitutions, and in-game adjustments.
Assist with equipment management and ensure athletes are prepared for competition.
Help maintain a positive, disciplined, and supportive team environment during contests.
Student-Athlete Development
Serve as a mentor and positive role model for student-athletes.
Encourage academic achievement, leadership, accountability, and personal growth.
Promote sportsmanship, respect, teamwork, and character development.
Program Operations
Assist with administrative responsibilities, including equipment inventory, team communications, travel coordination, and record keeping.
Maintain effective communication with parents, school personnel, and other stakeholders.
Support compliance with school, league, and athletic department policies and procedures.
Recruitment & Community Engagement
Assist in attracting and retaining student-athletes to strengthen and grow the softball program.
Participate in community outreach, youth engagement initiatives, and team-building activities that promote the program and school spirit.
Support efforts to build positive relationships within the school and local community.
Qualifications
Previous softball playing and/or coaching experience at the high school level or higher.
Demonstrated knowledge of softball fundamentals, pitching instruction, rules, and game strategies.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching staff and positively influence student-athletes.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and educational athletic environment.
