The Learning Center at Lincoln Land Community College is seeking motivated and supportive professionals to join our team as Tutors! Professional Tutors provide one-on-one and small group academic support to LLCC students across a variety of courses. Professional Tutors play a vital role in helping The Learning Center foster a welcoming and supportive environment that empowers students to seek academic support and develop as confident, independent learners.

Tutors Will Perform The Following Duties

• Assist students with specific course-related concepts and problems in one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions.
• Help students learn how to:
• Develop effective study strategies
• Use supplementary learning materials
• Communicate with their professors
• Clarify classroom and textbook content
• Understand and apply academic rules, definitions, and concepts
• Work through sample problems and examples.
• Meet regularly with the Tutoring Coordinator to reflect on tutoring practices, discuss observations from sessions, explore the use of various learning strategies, and address any potential challenges.
• Participate in scheduled staff meetings and training.
• Maintain accurate records of student appointments.
  

Professional tutors will be paid $35/hour and will be scheduled to work up to 20 hours per week.

Position Requirements

Requirements Include The Following

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Have a high level of patience and a sincere desire to help students gain an understanding of course concepts and/or content.
• Recognize when to make referrals to appropriate campus resources when assistance beyond tutoring is needed.
• Submit timesheets and other required documents according to established deadlines.
• Complete LLCC’s mandatory harassment prevention and cybersecurity training within 30 days of employment.
