- The Patient Account Clerk II at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for managing and maintaining patient accounts with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. This role involves processing billing information, handling patient inquiries, and ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded and reconciled in a timely manner. The position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively during the second shift to support the financial operations of the center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and manage patient billing information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with center policies and regulations.
- Handle patient inquiries related to billing and account status, providing clear and professional communication.
- Reconcile patient accounts and financial transactions, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless financial operations and support patient care services.
- Maintain up-to-date records of patient accounts, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Provide support and training to junior staff members as needed, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Stay informed about industry trends and changes in billing regulations to ensure compliance and best practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare billing or patient accounts role.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software.
- Familiarity with insurance claims processing and reimbursement procedures.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial calculations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding standards (e.g., ICD-10, CPT) is an advantage.
