Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Medical Technologist role located in Savannah, GA. The Medical Technologist performs routine and complex laboratory testing in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis, following established protocols and safety standards. Daily responsibilities include preparing and analyzing specimens, operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, performing quality control and calibration procedures, and validating test results before reporting. The role collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely diagnostic information that supports patient care. Additional duties include documenting work in the laboratory information system, participating in inspections and competency assessments, and contributing to process improvements and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in Medical Technology and Laboratory Skills, including specimen processing, test performance, and instrument operation.
- Experience in Laboratory Medicine and Medicine, with the ability to interpret and correlate test results with clinical conditions.
- Strong background in Quality Control, including running and interpreting controls, troubleshooting discrepancies, and maintaining regulatory standards.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field; certification (e.g., ASCP, AMT) preferred or eligible.
- Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, or Joint Commission standards, along with adherence to infection prevention, safety protocols, and HIPAA requirements.
- Effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work accurately under time constraints and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to work assigned shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, and to participate in on-call rotation if required.
