The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities in a high-speed manufacturing plant to ensure maximum equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety. This role supervises maintenance technicians, oversees preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and ensures rapid response to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the daily activities of maintenance technicians (mechanical, electrical, and automation).
- Ensure optimal performance of high-speed production equipment, including conveyors, packaging lines, PLC-controlled systems, and automated machinery.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Implement and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Monitor equipment performance and downtime metrics; drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
- Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance supplies.
- Support installation, commissioning, and modification of new equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff; conduct performance evaluations.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action plans for recurring equipment failures.
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of maintenance experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
- 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with automated production lines and PLC troubleshooting required.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems (up to 480V), VFDs, and PLCs.
- Experience with CMMS software.
- Understanding of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) principles.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.
- Strong focus on safety and compliance.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
