Core Responsibilities
Mechanical Assembly & Fabrication
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings to assemble equipment and subassemblies
- Build complex mechanical systems to exact engineering specifications
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and torque wrenches
- Ensure proper alignment, tolerances, and torque requirements
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance on mechanical systems
- Replace worn or damaged components, lubricate parts, and adjust system settings
- Track maintenance activities and identify recurring issues
- Assist with equipment installation in both shop and field environments
- Perform precision alignments using dial indicators and laser alignment tools
- Support system testing during setup and commissioning
- Diagnose mechanical failures and implement timely corrective actions
- Repair or replace components such as bearings, gears, belts, valves, and seals
- Validate repairs through testing and collaborate with engineering on root cause analysis
- Work alongside engineering teams on prototype builds and new equipment development
- Provide feedback on assembly processes, part fit, and design improvements
- Assist with testing and documenting system performance
- Support equipment startup, system validation, and final handoff
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, controls, and software
- Provide basic operational support to end users as needed
- Maintain accurate records of builds, maintenance, and repairs
- Document part usage, torque values, and inspection results
- Ensure documentation meets quality and traceability standards
- Follow all safety regulations and company protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
Education
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, maintenance, or industrial equipment
- Experience in manufacturing, automation, or custom machinery environments is a plus
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems and identifying root causes
- Basic understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission
- Ability to clearly document work performed
- Exposure to automation systems, robotics, or CNC equipment
- Experience supporting prototype or custom machinery builds
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- Forklift or lift operation certification
- Hands-on role in a shop and industrial setting
- Frequent use of tools, machinery, and lifting equipment
- Occasional travel for installations and field service
- Salary range: $40,000 – $62,000
