Senior Cost Accountant
LHH Professional Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant for our Houston area client. This role offers the opportunity to support plant operations and contribute to the financial success of a dynamic manufacturing environment. Primary responsibilities of the Senior Cost Accountant role:
- Set up, maintain and reconcile product costs, including periodic cost roll-ups
- Assist in month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries
- Analyze inventory and purchase price variances (PPV)
- Prepare actual vs. budget analysis and various financial reports
- Develop and maintain standard costs in an ERP system
- Improve processes and controls related to manufacturing costs and inventory valuation
- Document policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls
- Analyze cost variances and provide operational support
Primary qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years of experience in cost accounting or general accounting with an analytical focus
- Strong Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP)
- Self-starter with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
