A well-established, publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) in Lake Success, NY is seeking a Senior Accountant to support key financial operations. About the Role:

The Senior Accountant will support core accounting activities including SEC filings, monthly close processes, financial statement preparation, and GAAP compliance. You'll partner with accounting leadership and work closely with external auditors, contributing directly to the company's public reporting obligations and internal financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and assist in reviewing 10-K and 10-Q filings and other public company reports
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities
• Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts and journal entries
• Assist with consolidated financial statement preparation and analysis
• Partner with external auditors and tax advisors to support audits and compliance
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure accounting policies align with GAAP and SEC standards
• Provide support in areas like budgeting, variance analysis, and special projects
• Collaborate cross-functionally with finance and operations teams

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required)
• CPA or progress toward CPA (preferred)
• 3–5 years of experience in accounting; public accounting or public company experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q) and public REIT structures
• Knowledge of GAAP and internal control best practices
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Experience in real estate, REITs, or financial services is a plus
