About the Role
The Property Accountant will manage the financial operations of a diverse real estate portfolio. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and providing insights that drive business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
- Manage accruals and lease accounting for rent, CAM, taxes, and insurance.
- Reconcile bank accounts, reserves, and balance sheet accounts.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including invoice coding and aging reports.
- Perform variance analysis and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Assist with due diligence for acquisitions and dispositions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience (real estate or property management preferred).
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software (Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, QuickBooks).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of CAM reconciliations and lease agreements.
- Familiarity with project-based accounting and capital expenditure tracking.
