What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Controller position at LHH?
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Plant Controller to serve as the key finance partner to plant operations within the food & beverage manufacturing industry. This role will oversee all plant-level financial activities, driving cost control, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making while supporting plant leadership in achieving performance and profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary finance business partner to Plant Leadership, supporting day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives
- Lead all aspects of plant financial reporting, including monthly close, variance analysis, and performance reporting
- Drive cost accounting and inventory management, including standard costing, variance analysis, and cycle counts
- Analyze and optimize manufacturing costs (labor, overhead, materials, waste) to improve plant efficiency and margins
- Partner with Operations to monitor and improve KPIs such as yield, throughput, and labor efficiency
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for the plant
- Ensure strong internal controls and compliance
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and operational enhancements
- Support capital expenditure (CapEx) planning and ROI analysis for plant investments
- Lead and develop plant finance staff (if applicable) while building strong cross-functional relationships
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA a plus)
- 7–12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with strong plant/manufacturing finance experience in food & beverage
- Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of inventory, standard costing, and production variances
- Track record of partnering effectively with plant operations and leadership teams
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environments
Compensation:
$125,000-$150,000
