Payroll Assistant

LHH is looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to help manage weekly payroll processing and maintain accurate employee records in a fast-paced construction environment paying up to $30/hr. If you’re organized, dependable, and thrive on accuracy, this is the role for you!
What You’ll Do
- Payroll Support
- Assist with weekly payroll for multiple employee types.
- Review and enter timecards daily, verifying job codes, labor hours, and overtime.
- Audit timesheets for accuracy and maintain payroll documentation.
- Support certified payroll reporting, fringe benefit tracking, and prevailing wage compliance.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and update employee profiles (tax withholding, direct deposit).
- Employee Records & Communication
- Maintain accurate employee files and payroll documentation.
- Communicate with employees regarding corrections, deductions, and payroll policies.
- Track new hires, terminations, rate changes, and status updates.
- Collaborate with HR and project managers to resolve discrepancies.
- Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure payroll processes comply with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist with certified payroll requirements (Davis-Bacon, DIR, LCPtracker, UTRACS).
- Prepare payroll reports for management and audits.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–2 years of payroll, accounting, or administrative experience (construction industry a plus).
- Knowledge of payroll processes and timekeeping systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
