Overview: LHH is partnering with a highly respected law firm to identify an experienced Litigation & Trial Paralegal for its Charlotte, NC office. This is a hybrid role supporting a high‑performing medical malpractice litigation group. The ideal candidate brings strong litigation experience from a mid‑ to large‑sized firm, deep trial and e‑discovery exposure, exceptional organization skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize, maintain, and manage case files, including correspondence, pleadings, discovery, and trial notebooks
- Utilize Relativity, Westlaw, Lexis, and internal document‑management systems to track and retrieve case information
- Conduct legal research and perform cite checks using online research tools
- Review, summarize, and proofread legal documents, including depositions, motions, affidavits, and discovery responses
- Draft shells for pleadings, motions, petitions, and legal correspondence
- Compile, analyze, and report data from discovery and reference materials
- Assist with full trial preparation: pretrial orders, jury instructions, witness prep, exhibit lists, voir dire, motions in limine
- Provide in‑courtroom/trial support, including tracking exhibits, coordinating witnesses, and managing day‑to‑day trial logistics
- Support workflows for document review and legal automation within the litigation team
- Perform e‑discovery tasks and manage document sets in Relativity
- Maintain accurate daily timekeeping and support large‑scale litigation documentation requirements
- Prepare materials for client communications and organize mailings
- Collaborate with attorneys to improve efficiency, process management, and case organization
- Follow ethical standards in alignment with the Rules of Professional Conduct
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; paralegal certificate preferred (flexible depending on experience)
- 5 years of litigation paralegal experience (will consider strong candidates under 5 years)
- Experience in medical malpractice litigation preferred
- Trial experience preferred
- Relativity / e‑discovery experience preferred
- Experience in both federal and state court litigation
- Strong research, writing, and proofreading ability
- Advanced proficiency with litigation technology platforms and MS Office
- Excellent organization, interpersonal communication, and project‑management skills
- Ability to handle significant overtime during busy periods (especially trials)
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment with shifting priorities
- High degree of professionalism, initiative, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
