What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Associate Attorney position at LHH?
Civil Litigation Associate | San Antonio | Respected Litigation Boutique | UNPOSTED OPPORTUNITY
I’m working directly with a highly respected civil litigation boutique in San Antonio that’s actively seeking a Litigation Associate to join its growing team.
Due to a significant increase in complex matters, the firm is looking to add another attorney and is open to a broader range of backgrounds than originally anticipated.
OVERVIEW
THE PRACTICE: Sophisticated civil litigation practice representing major national insurers. Attorneys handle a diverse docket ranging from routine liability matters to complex, high-exposure catastrophic injury and wrongful death litigation, including seven-figure cases requiring extensive discovery, expert work, and trial preparation.
Experience: Ideally 2 years of litigation experience, though the firm is open-minded for the right candidate. Trial experience is a plus but not required. Attorneys with strong litigation fundamentals who want to develop courtroom skills are encouraged to apply.
Compensation: $120,000-$150,000 base salary end-of-year bonuses
Benefits: Full health benefits 401(k)
Hybrid Setup: Highly hybrid environment (typically 2-3 days per week in office)
This is not a volume-driven insurance defense shop where associates spend years drafting motions behind the scenes.
Attorneys are trusted to manage their own docket, typically handling 30-35 cases while taking ownership of depositions, mediations, hearings, client reporting, and overall case strategy. The work offers meaningful responsibility early, with matters ranging from routine disputes to some of the most significant exposure cases in the firm's portfolio.
The partners have built a reputation for being supportive, accessible mentors who genuinely invest in attorney development. Trial experience is valued, but the firm is willing to help the right associate build those skills and gain firsthand courtroom exposure.
The culture is collaborative, low-ego, and refreshingly free of the micromanagement often associated with larger insurance defense platforms. Attorneys are given autonomy, trusted with responsibility, and supported by leadership that understands long-term career development drives retention.
For litigators looking to handle sophisticated cases, develop real stand-up experience, and build a long-term practice within a stable, well-regarded litigation platform, this is an outstanding opportunity.
