What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Manager position at LHH?
LHH is conducting a search for an Electrical Manager for our client, a scaled and rapidly growing water midstream operator supporting high-volume energy production across the Permian Basin.
This organization is moving and managing fluid at E&P scale—operating critical saltwater disposal (SWD) infrastructure that underpins stable, long-term production economics. The mandate is to run electrical, automation, and measurement functions with the rigor, urgency, and ownership mindset of an upstream operator.
Position Title: Electrical Manager
Location: Midland, TX

Role Overview
The Electrical Manager is accountable for the leadership, technical direction, and execution of all electrical power distribution, automation, instrumentation, and measurement activities across assigned assets. This role sets the operating standard for safety, uptime, data integrity, and team performance in a mission-critical, high-throughput environment.
You will lead field-based technical teams, own medium- and high-voltage electrical infrastructure, and partner closely with operations, reliability, and asset integrity to ensure systems are safe, compliant, and optimized. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands how to operate and scale assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor electrical, automation, instrumentation, and measurement teams supporting field operations
- Serve as the primary liaison between field operations and management
- Oversee design, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems

- Partner with Asset Integrity & Reliability to ensure accurate measurement data and effective use of CMMS systems
- Develop and enforce SOPs, safety standards, and compliance practices
- Manage third-party vendors, contractors, and service providers for alignment on scope, cost, schedule, and quality
- Ensure full compliance with environmental, safety, company, and customer standards
- Lead workforce planning, scheduling, training, performance management, and succession development
- Participate in hiring, coaching, and disciplinary processes
- Maintain accurate timekeeping and enforce attendance and scheduling expectations
- Act as a visible safety leader, including incident reporting, JSAs, training, and field audits
- Respond to field emergencies and support after-hours operations as required

- Hands-on experience with: Medium- and high-voltage systems (480V–22kV), MCCs, switchgear, transformers, relays, and VFDs, SCADA platforms (Ignition, Wonderware, Simatic, iFix, Intellution, or similar)
- Electrical design tools such as AutoCAD or ETAP
- Strong project execution, organizational, and time-management skills
- Clear, professional communicator across field, leadership, and vendor audiences
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate company vehicles
- Willingness to travel and respond to field issues as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10 years of progressive experience in electrical power, automation, and instrumentation
- 3 years in a formal supervisory or managerial role leading technicians and programmers
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, etc.)
- Experience using Maximo or comparable asset integrity / CMMS platforms
Working Environment & Expectations
- Primarily office-based with regular field engagement
- On-call availability for operational emergencies
- Exposure to industrial field conditions, extreme weather, and hazardous environments
- Use of PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols are mandatory
Why This Role
This is a high-impact leadership position within a water midstream organization that is structurally essential to oil and gas production. The asset base is long-life, volume-driven, and growing. You will be entrusted to build teams, harden systems, and operate infrastructure at scale—running the electrical function with the discipline of an E&P operator, not a service provider.
For an electrical leader who wants ownership, visibility, and long-term relevance in energy infrastructure, this is a seat at the table.
