Director of Continuous Improvement
Location: Columbus, OH
LLH looking for a Director of Continuous Improvement for a leading distribution and supply chain organization operating a high-volume, multi-shift distribution network. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and innovation. This is a leadership position focused enterprise-wide transformation initiatives that enhance productivity, drive cost savings, and improve overall supply chain performance. This role will serve as a strategic partner to Operations, Engineering, Transportation, and Supply Chain leadership teams, helping build a culture focused on data-driven decision-making, process standardization, and sustained continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the organization's continuous improvement strategy across distribution and logistics operations
- Lead Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and operational excellence initiatives throughout multiple distribution facilities
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce operating costs, increase throughput, and enhance service levels
- Establish and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness and continuous improvement success
- Partner with distribution leaders to streamline fulfillment, inventory management, receiving, shipping, and transportation processes
- Lead value stream mapping exercises and root cause analyses to eliminate waste and improve workflow efficiency
- Build and maintain a culture of continuous improvement through coaching, training, and employee engagement initiatives
- Drive labor optimization strategies through process redesign, standard work development, and performance management tools
- Utilize data analytics and operational reporting to identify trends and prioritize improvement opportunities
- Lead cross-functional project teams and ensure successful execution of strategic initiatives
- Develop and implement standardized operating procedures and best practices across the distribution network
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to achieve targeted results
- Present project outcomes, business cases, and performance metrics to executive leadership
- Champion change management efforts to ensure adoption and sustainability of process improvements
- Support network expansion, facility startups, automation projects, and supply chain transformation initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, or a related field
- 10 years of progressive experience in continuous improvement, operational excellence, industrial engineering, or supply chain operations
- 5 years of leadership experience managing continuous improvement teams or large-scale operational initiatives
- Extensive experience within high-volume distribution, fulfillment, warehousing, logistics, or supply chain environments
- Proven success leading Lean Manufacturing, Lean Distribution, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence programs
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, labor management systems, inventory control, and fulfillment processes
- Experience implementing process improvements within automated distribution environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to achieve measurable cost reduction, productivity, and service improvements
- Advanced analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities with experience influencing executive leadership
- Proficiency with WMS, ERP systems, labor management software, and business intelligence platforms
