Position Overview
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting functions. This position will oversee general ledger accounting, month-end close, inventory control, product costing, budgeting, forecasting, and operational finance.
The Corporate Controller will serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership and operations, helping improve financial visibility, strengthen internal controls, and support data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on leadership style, strong manufacturing accounting experience, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close process and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment around financial reporting, cash flow, and inventory.
- Partner with operations, supervisors, senior leadership, and the finance team to provide a clear understanding of business performance.
- Monitor cash position and help protect company assets from internal and external risks.
- Prepare monthly financial reviews for executive leadership and explain key variances against budget, prior-year results, and expectations.
- Review bills of materials and inventory processes to ensure accurate system flow and product costing.
- Own product costing, margin analysis, and the financial impact of cost changes.
- Identify and lead process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Improve the organization’s use of ERP, automation, and AI capabilities.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and help establish quarterly forecasting.
- Manage FP&A reporting tools and enhance management reporting through Power BI.
- Oversee the external financial audit process.
- Support corporate HR responsibilities and oversee payroll processing.
- Complete special projects and financial analysis as needed.
- Minimal travel required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA preferred, either active or inactive.
- At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- At least three years of experience in a Controller-level role.
- Cost accounting and operational accounting experience within a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and manufacturing accounting processes.
- Demonstrated experience leading change and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong ERP experience. Microsoft Dynamics GP or Great Plains experience is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
