Our client, a well-established property management organization, is seeking a Controller to lead its accounting department and drive financial strategy. This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to modernize processes and support a growing portfolio of multifamily properties and senior living communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the accounting team, providing training, supervision, and support.
- Oversee financial reporting, including monthly and annual statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Manage bank reconciliations, deposits, owner distributions, and payroll.
- Prepare budgets, cash flow reports, and special financial analyses.
- Drive process improvements and modernization initiatives (e.g., paperless transition).
- Collaborate with leadership on financial strategy and business planning.
- Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closings.
Qualifications
- Required:5 years of accounting experience, including 2 years in a leadership or Controller role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and property management accounting.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in property management or real estate accounting.
- Familiarity with AppFolio or Yardi Voyager.
- CPA or equivalent certification a plus.
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
