Configuration Engineer
Baltimore Metro Area | Full-Time | Onsite
Salary: $80,000 – $100,000
We are partnering with a growing, highly specialized manufacturing organization supporting regulated, high-precision industries to identify a Configuration Engineer to join their Quality team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product integrity, process control, and compliance with customer and industry standards across complex manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain configuration control processes to ensure product baselines are accurate, compliant, and up to date
- Perform contract and purchase order reviews to validate quality requirements, specifications, and flow-down obligations
- Develop and manage detailed process documentation, including travelers and work instructions, aligned with engineering intent
- Establish and maintain process controls across advanced manufacturing operations such as machining, fabrication, heat treatment, and specialty processes
- Support process validation and production readiness activities, including PPAP and related quality approvals
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence
- Monitor and manage nonconforming material, including containment, disposition, and verification of corrective actions
- Partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, and other internal teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to risk analysis activities such as PFMEA and support structured quality planning efforts
Qualifications:
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Advanced understanding of GD&T
- Experience with quality tools and methodologies such as SPC, control plans, PFMEA, APQP, and corrective action processes
- Hands-on familiarity with inspection and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM, vision systems, etc.)
- Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace, medical device, automotive, or similar)
- Working knowledge of quality management systems such as AS9100 or ISO 9001
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data tracking and analysis
