What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Financial Officer position at LHH?
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are partnering with a national, multi-state insurance defense law firm to recruit a strategic Chief Financial Officer.
This is a high-impact executive leadership role, not a traditional finance manager position. The CFO will work directly with firm leadership to drive financial strategy, profitability, and operational performance across multiple offices.
We welcome candidates who are already CFOs or senior law firm finance leaders who are clearly CFO‑ready.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Firmwide financial strategy, planning, and forecasting
- Insurance defense profitability and margin management
- Oversight of: Utilization, realization, billing, rate structures, write-offs, and collections
- Full accounting leadership (GL, billing, AR/AP, trust, audits)
- Cash flow and banking relationships
- Partner economics and compensation analysis
- Financial oversight of multi-state operations
- Leading and scaling the finance team
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Prior finance leadership experience within a law firm
- Traditional standalone law firm environment required
- Exposure to insurance defense or rate-driven litigation
- Strong understanding of law firm financial metrics:
- Utilization, realization, collections, profitability
- Experience supporting multi-office / multi-state operations
- Miami-based or willing to relocate (hybrid only)
- CPA strongly preferred (MBA a plus)
