Benefits Coordinator
LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking a Benefits Coordinator with at least 3 years of experience working in a similar role. This is a Direct Hire opportunity within the Non Profit industry, located in Manhattan, NY.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to employees on benefit plans by explaining eligibility, coverage details, and policy provisions, while assisting with account-related questions
- Partner with insurance carriers and brokers to ensure eligible employees are enrolled in the appropriate plans based on their status and elections
- Coordinate and lead benefit orientations for new hires and union employees, along with organizing annual open enrollment meetings and education sessions
- Manage all benefit enrollments, status changes, and terminations in compliance with IRS Section 125 regulations and qualifying life event guidelines
- Maintain accurate and organized benefit records, including documentation supporting any employee status or coverage changes
- Oversee benefit data within the HRIS system to ensure accurate payroll deductions and support reporting requirements for ACA and other compliance needs
- Assist with monthly benefits billing by reviewing invoices, reconciling participant data, and confirming coverage levels for accuracy
- Administer retirement plan enrollments and updates while maintaining accurate participant records and issuing required communications
- Process workers’ compensation, short-term disability, and paid family leave claims while responding to follow-ups from carriers
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, providing support via phone, email, and in-person meetings to resolve issues and answer questions
- Generate recurring and ad hoc HR reports from the HRIS system to support leadership decisions, audits, and ongoing HR initiatives
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of benefits experience
